Re: Profile: the General

I put this here mainly because it goes with the other threads of this guy that I'm about to move here. The whole purpose of these threads is to show people BAD examples. That is to say that Bill was able to do some things correctly, but his threads show a clear lack of effective organization, it is evident that he didn't put much effort into making sense, and he put tons of effort into getting across what he wanted, i.e. the history of his characters that no one cares about and the godhacks. When making a character, be sure that you're not just ripping off the majority of sci-fi films, Gundam, DBZ, and whatever else. Make your character really something that deviates to your tastes, your style, your preferences, and your ideas, not just cheap knock-offs. That being said, don't be so obsessive with your characters; they're just characters. They're not real people, and even if they represent a part of you, they're not you. If you had a storyline pre-planned, even if you wrote a whole book on it, don't be afraid to walk away from it. Your story on Sein is subject to how others interact with you, not just what you write, which is why it's so fun. If you're just looking to write a story on your own, go write it on your own (You can do that in Spam or Artisan's Alley, if you want.), but if we tell you that some of your character details need revision (i.e. "You can't have an infinite energy source," "You have to explain how the special gun works," "You can't have infinite ammo with everything that you do," "You can't just pull some trail mix out of nowhere for a snack if you didn't actually have it beforehand," et cetera), just revise them for the site. We're reasonable; we allow you to convey the themes that you want to convey, and we give you a ton of freedom. Just don't get so caught-up in your original designs that you can't make your characters fair.

Re: King Erik: Profile

I was able to mull through the English, so I can safely say that this is pretty good. Nice job, man.
