The pact mage

Characteristics: Aloof, coy, patient, nurturing (to allies), cheerful (to allies), calculating (in battle), ruthless (in battle)

Mikal is from a small village in the far away country of Fabraroma. She is a natural archmage of a unique form of magic called the Ashamar Genie Pact. Due to her unique ability the people of her homeland have ostracized and hunted Mikal since the time her powers emerged when she was twelve years old. In order to understand why this is, one must first no a little bit about her homeland.

The kingdom of Fabraroma has a unique form of magic known as pact magic. Ages ago, there was a great war between the region's humans and powerful and supernatural beings. No one is sure why the war started, but it raged on for several centuries in an eternal stalemate. Even though the human where weaker by far than the superior beings, and even though the superior creatures possessed magic where the humans had none, the humans ability to rapidly increase their population keep the monsters from ever truly gaining ground. Eventually the monsters were faced with a choice. On one hand, they could fight on, no doubt killing all of the humans but killing off all of the bloodlines of their own houses as well. On the other, they could try to strike a deal with the humans to ensure the survival of both.

The agreement the two sides reached where called pacts. The premise was simple. A human could strike a pact in one of many different ways (via a pledge of allegiance, a ritual, a sacrifice, or even by having an existing pact passed down from an ancestor which is what happened to Mikal), and in doing so the human would be gifted with some of the superior being's natural magic. In return, the superior beings bloodline would absorb some of the natural essence of that human, and once enough essence was collected in this way a new superior being would be created, thus continuing on the bloodline.

The pacts kept peace for a golden age, until the humans began to war amongst themselves. Two pacts, joined forces and seized control of the country. They declared all other pacts heretical and began to terminate them. Four hundred years had passed since the tyrannical government led by the Nobelese clan seized power when Mikal was born.

At the age of twelve, the potent and latent magic powers of the pact struck by Mikal's ancestor revealed themselves. Within a single month, a squadron of witchhunters (knights and mages tasked with killing or capturing pact users and other undesirables) was deployed and sought her out in her home village. Mikal's powers where so great that she was able to kill all ten of the witchhunters that attacked her, but not before they butchered her entire village. The governement pinned the murder of the villagers as well as the deaths of the witchhunters on Mikal, and she instantly became the most wanted criminal in the kingdom. She had no choice but to flee- running and hiding to avoid more bloodshed.

Over the years Mikal found or rescued three children- Fufuka
(Fufuka is a rare breed called a "Oujia mage". Declared dangerous monsters by the Nobelese, they are hunted viciously by witchhunters and common folk alike. Fufuka is the one little girl who may be even more despised by her own people than Mikal is, and so Mikal swore to protect her.)
, Nils
(Nils is called a "magic eater", and his abilities make him extremely effective against pact mages. Mikal rescued him from the Nobelese who were experimenting on the boy in an effort to weaponize his powers.)
, and Alsef
(Aslef is a "star child". Although he is not being hunted per say, he requires a powerful field of pact magic energy to leech off of in order to sustain himself. Without this energy he would fade from existence. Mikal is the only pact mage alive other than the head of the Nobelese family who can provide such a field.)
- who were being pursued by the witchhunters. The four of them made a home for themselves in secluded mountains. For the first time in her life Mikal had a few years of happiness and peace. The Nobelese had not forgotten her though, and the peace could not last. A unit of fifty magic knights (elite witchhunters) found and attacked their home.

Mikal fought as hard as she could, but this time she was only able to defeat forty nine of the magic knights. As she lay defeated at the feet of the final magic knight she felt sure she was going to die, but in a last ditch effort to buy time for the children to escape she clung to the feet of the final magic knight. This knight, Profit Oathhorn, was not cruel and bloodthirsty like most of the magic knights, and due to certain circumstances had long been questioning the so called “righteousness” of his life long mission. Touched by Mikal's noble act and unwilling to kill children, Profit not only spared her life but also smuggled her out of the country.

At the border they were discovered, and in the fight for escape Profit was horribly wounded. Somehow he found the strength to break free and lead their pursuers away, even though he knew that if he was captured he would die for his treason. Refusing to let Profit's sacrifice be in vain, Mikal took the children and fled until she reached a land so far away that the people has never heard of Fabraroma. This is how her journey truly began.

Evanshaely. Eventually. I see what you did, there.

One does not simply run to our lands. As I've said, you will most certainly want to re-read the rules and guides: The status of the darkwalls kills your entrance explanation. You'll have to be from another planet in another galaxy in another universe in another dimension-intersection. State the name for each (can be shared, e.g. "Houcm" planet, galaxy of "Houcm," and "Houcm" universe are what we exist in) unless the dimension is unnamed. Other locational names, such as continent, region, sub-region, nation (Fabraroma sounds familiar, somehow.), sub-nation, community, and so forth are optional. Anyway, when you figure out where you're from, you should also say how you got here, unless you'll give an explanation in your introductory post. Anything even so simple as everyone suddenly stumbling into a portal at the end of the backstory is sufficient, of course.

This backstory is quite enjoyable. I wonder if you intend to introduce other chars from the same background, perhaps in conflict with Mikal.
As for the kids, they will be listed in your Allies section. Thus, if you want to shorten their descriptions here and expound there, that works, but it's fine as-is, too.

Not bad! It's in dire need of proofreading and has the locational/transit touch-ups to add, but this is pretty cool. Welcome back to Sein.
