Inherit Neodawn

Image
This moist wasteland has a small sea that is constantly evaporating into fog, then condensing back into itself. Visibility is always an issue. Typically, a humid area is full of plantlife. It's unclear exactly why this is an exception, but the most commonly accepted theory is that some of the monsters are overly predatory to plants.

Okay, good; those aspects aren't so impressive to them. 'Twould be a shame, truly, Noah thought while following them ever eastward (not that Noah knew the direction, or even if the directions went by the same or similar names, here).

"Okay, that doesn't sound so bad. If I decide against the position, what manner of obligations are there?"

Zet and Korg didn't answer for a moment. This was a tough one . . .

Erm . . . I haven't . . . really . . . heard of someone who didn't want the position . . .

I don't think that you have to be a Grigori if you don't want to . . .

I suppose that, if you change your mind mid-term, we'll either hold another election or just go without a Grigori for a while, depending on when you quit . . . I wouldn't advise quitting, though . . .

Yeah, that'd be kinda' rude . . .

"Right, of course. If I were to obtain the status, I wouldn't give it up without good reason."

Noah didn't want to expound on that, since he wasn't sure how things were run, nor what would or would not be offensive . . .

"Which way are we headed, exactly . . .?"

Well, that sounds good.

Regardless of any details, the general concept was a good one to be agreed upon.

We're going East, toward Xuten. That's the name of our guild for magical studies.

"Oh, okay... About how far away is it? Xu-ten . . ."

Noah rather liked the sound of it, odd though that may be.

See that city in front of us about a quarter-mile? That's Sacucasu. We're gonna' walk around it to get to the Razibiju Sand Ocean.

After traversing the grand desert, there's a rockier desert, at the core of which lies our guild.

If you want, we can stop in Sacucasu, but they're more of a warriors' guild, so we figure that you'd just want to get to the magical one and skip Sacucasu.

We have extra rations, so we don't need to make stops for that.

Zet and Korg each held an extra flask of water toward Noah. Korg pointed at the satchel at his side.

Any time that you get hungry, just ask. ^^

"Why, thank you. It's water, right?"

Noah accepted the closest flask, Zet's, and took a sip. Yeah, it was good, clean water.

"Wouldn't it just be easier to walk through the center of the city and deviate from our path if we see something of interest, then hop the opposite border?"

Naw, it's sahagin guts. Of course, it's water.

Haha, Korg . . . Yes, that would be nice, but the walls are high. We'd have to go through the Levelling Infirmary, which could be crowded, so it's best to take the simpler route.

"Haha, sahagin guts . . . What if I just manipulated the ground to give a temporary stairway up to the wall, then the same to get you down, if you need it?"

The young mages looked at each other. They gave a sort of 'that is doable' nod with raised eyebrows.

Yeah, that'd be cool!

They were almost there . . .

"Very well, then."

Noah cast Haste on the others and again on himself.

((Normally, the Sacucasu Member account would dictate whether or not items of interest could be found, and the Xuten Member account would continue to play on its own, but since I'm the admin that would dictate that . . .))

The mages quickly advanced through the city, seeing nothing that was worth stopping for. They came to the opposite wall, where Noah terramanced a temporary stairway, really just a few pillars to jump up, then repeated the process to get down.

The mages were relieved that Noah had not overestimated their jumping ability, as his was rather impressive, for a mage. They scaled the pillars, then dropped down the next set.

Cool!

Yes, that was cool!

They headed through the desert as Noah's Terramancy effects wore off, eventually reaching the front of their guild.

((To "Arrival of Another"!))
