Arena

All right, the plan is for a sort of colosseum-like thing.

Placement: Guild World (to be positioned more specifically upon addition of other regions to that)
Purpose: battle, prizes, revenue
NPA requirement; name: yes; "Fightmonger"
Details: So far, the idea is that some free tournaments (Simply walk in, sign-up, and fight.) will be held periodically for some small (comparatively, at least) prizes. In addition, some other tourneys that will cost to participate in will grant bigger prizes. Prizes will range from money to abilities to expendables to weapons (keyblades included) to armor and beyond. Spectation will be free, so long as one doesn't make a mess, but there won't be any complimentary drinks or such as a result. In stead, some vendors will walk around to sell food and drinks. Depending on the tourney, there may or may not be special rules from battle to battle or throughout the tourney, special victory conditions, et cetera. Individual battles will also be held, which can be for prizes, but won't usually be. Characters will be able to walk in, bet some money, fight a battle (with another character or a generic enemy, often depending on timing), and win back more money (or, sometimes, a different prize) in return. The winnings may vary anywhere from 1.1 times to 3 times the bet, or perhaps more or less, depending on what the fightmonger deems to be appropriate. Will any battles be deathmatches? Yes, they can be. It depends on the battle, and some tourneys will have all deathmatches or no deathmatches. However, it's all opted-in; no one will HAVE to participate in a deathmatch if they don't want to. Of course, failure to participate in it will mean forfeiture of a tourney, if one changes one's mind mid-tourney, but that's obvious.

The prizes and some money will come from the Royals, donations from characters (including NPAs), and whatever the Fightmonger (and employees under the same account) will purchase elsewhere.

We need to determine whether or not guilds will set tournaments up, whether or not they'll contribute to/draw from the arena.

My idea is for Guilds to actually be contributing while the Nations which house the guilds will be making the tournaments. And the Guild that wins from that Nation will get a good income of money and ofcourse fame :)

-facedesk, facedesk, facedesk- Komo, one more time:
WE ARE NOT GOING TO START WITH NATIONS.
NATIONS CAN BE BUILT BY CHARACTERS.
WE ARE NOT GOING TO SET A SPECIFIC FORMAT FOR NATIONS.
WE ARE NOT GOING TO DETERMINE THE POWERS OF NATIONS BEFORE THEY ARE MADE.
NATIONS = NO.
NO = NATIONS.
WE WILL HAVE GUILDS.
WE MAY GET MORE GUILDS AFTER THE INITIAL GUILDS.
NATIONS CAN COME LATER AS CHARACTERS BUILD THEM.

There will only be one major arena; that's not to say that no more are allowed to be built, but it'd make no sense to have a bunch of arenas right from the start.

MY comments about this being a good idea seemed to have been deleted.

Like on Nchuleft lets just have one Arena.

One works best.

@tG: That's wierd.

Yeah, we'll have one. I mean, if someone REALLY wants to build another and thinks that it'll get any business, I won't stop them, but we're starting with one.

@Komo: Calm down, pup. -pats head- All good, then.

Okay, is anyone going to give any input as to what manner of sway the guilds will have over the arena? Hello?

None. Make the arena have its own Arena Champion that runs the arean, the arena champion is holder of this position till a round robin tournement is held to determin a new one. Or something like that

What? No, Bill. Please, don't comment before you read. It'll be run by the Fightmonger account. It's not pro wrestling; it's not a bunch of hype for some glorified, exaggerated, and poorly acted "fights". Go read about the arena in its description, read this whole thread, then give input.

Hmm survival matches can be good as well. Each time someone advances a round the enemies become tougher and tougher but depending on where they stop they get a certain prize. Also after some rounds people fight bosses (such as Gigaken, Giganorst, and Mumbo Jumbo but their smaller forms and such lol :P). We can also have team matches like you know the team members are separated into blocks and fight the corresponding enemy. One last idea i have is team survival, it's like survival but with teams :)

You basically phrased what I had already intended. Haha, it's not exactly progress, but better than nothing; thanks for the input.

I believe guilds can set up the tournaments and have special requirements for them, or they can also use it for possible guild wars you know? Another idea is that when a certain guild sets up a tournament the arena gives like a portion of earned money from participants and people who buy stuff to the guild(s) who set up the tournament :) to me it's a basic idea and im still working out some kinks in my head right now lol

I think that having the guilds set up the tournaments is a good idea myself. They can set the tournaments up by themselves or collaborate on them to have a more collective tournament idea. I also think the guild war idea via tournament would be good cause no one would be killing anyone else and it would let you experience fighting a number of different characters to see what's out there. If you had Sacucasu and Xuten set up a guild war tournament up together you could have a magic users vs melee fighters sorta tournament which would be interesting to see how that played out.

I think that the idea that there should be entry fees would be a good one cause it would help to support the tournaments as well as give the guilds incentive to set up said tournaments which in turn would provide funds for the guilds in order to improve them which would help characters become stronger which would naturally lead to better arena matches so it all works out beautifully . . . provided things go smoothly that is.

I think that might help you get a better idea of how I think the Arena should be run and what should go on but I'm open to suggestions and tweaks in order to improve the suggestion.

@Komo: Okay, that's more what I was going for. I thought of it that way, too (though not so much for the guild wars; we have massive areas all over Guild World for that), so it's good to see that we have consensus.

@Silver: The only thing about the guild wars thing is that I already figured that we'd have some (no intentional kills) all over Guild World. That is what I made those areas so huge for. :P Still, it could be possible to have both. We'd have random guild wars for a fun, massive spar session, and we'd have competitive versions of the same for shiny prizes of shininess. I kinda' like this better than just a Royal appearing to the guild leader of the winning side(s) and saying, "Hey, you won! You get new shit."
