The Eyes Have It

The wide road down the center of the village is rife with all kinds of shops that sell a lot more than just souvenirs and seashells, though you can get those, too. The people of the village take turns at discretion with the markets daily, so you can never be sure just what is available on a day-to-day basis.

The Eyes Have It

Post by Crevasseus » Thu May 03, 2018 6:48 pm

"What exactly is a Pokemon?"

The warmth of the sunlight cascaded upon the scales atop Crevasseus's head. It was at this moment he took a sidestep out of the doorway. He pulled the jar of olives from where it was concealed and twisted the cap until it popped. He pulled out one, popped it in his mouth, and offered the jar to the ladies.

Er . . .

Uh, it's a category of monsters . . . that can be turned into laser forms and captured in these special balls, trained, battled, healed very efficiently by specific machines found in readily accessible pokémon centers or by sprays of specially designed potions, and, uh, a lot of them have these evolutionary cycles . . . They are generally not hostile to humans without reason.

Yeah. Want to look into that or start shopping first?

Women shopping? Oh here we go... OH SHUT UP BRAIN!

"Whichever you ladies prefer is more than fine with me."

Crevasses re-capped the jar. Since he didn't feel the weight of his offering alter, he could only assume they politely declined.

Mm . . .

I think that pokémon are most likely the same or similar to how they are in our dimension, Tori, given the patterns observed thus far. I wonder if the starter selection is at all similar, though. We should probably check before making any evaluations of the market.

Seems legit to me. Maybe we shouldn't even hit the market at all until after the library.

Yeah, or at least until Crevasseus gets his sight.

Crevasseus just listened because he wasn't sure at what point the women would ditch him, be it before or after his sight returned.

Yeah. Speaking of which, Crevasseus, we're all heading toward the Atypical Institution, right? If we work as a party, we won't have to hire much protection, and we can split the cost in thirds.

‾▿‾Nadia had an epiphany. She manifested the Flutter Coat and patted its internal pockets. Sure enough, they were empty.‾▿‾

Actually, my wallet is gone . . .

Oh. Halves, then.

At this point, Crevasseus internally divides by zero.

He stretches and nods, "I'd like that. Do you think there's a few sellswords about?"

Uh, I dunno' if that's a safe assumption. We are in another dimension, so I don't think that we can count on anything for certain.

It seems like things aren't too different to make any guesses, I'd say. If there are people with fighting capacity and people without, and life is dangerous, you can assume that the latter is receiving help from the former to some extent, and from there, I'd assume that some of the former would seek compensation. Ergo, while mercenaries may be different in all sorts of ways here, I'd wager that they yet exist.

Yeah, that's fair.

‾▿‾Nadia stowed her coat and added,‾▿‾

No idea if they can be found in or near this town, though.
