[Crevasseus]

Crevasseus walked into the door jam with a grunt.

I hate doors, I miss my cave.

"Slimy mostly, from what i could tell. Could you please point me to the restroom?"

[Tori Keheraht]

Pfhm.

‾▿‾Nadia covered her mouth, but Tori just let a chuckle slip between her lips.‾▿‾

Thanks. We got some generic expendables and a slab of meat. Well, it had nineteen regenerating tentacles, and it was yellow and purple. Its body was oval-shaped and about twenty meters out. Its weak point was in its throat. It appeared to inhale without taking in air or water, then shot laser beams and ink droplets that hovered in the air and bounced bolts of dark magic around. Sound familiar?

‾▿‾Both of the ladies kept their senses keen, though they were pretty sure at this point that the foe was just some generic monster. Nadia thought to guide Crevasseus toward the obviously-marked restroom, but geez, what if knocking isn't the right thing, here? What do people do to make sure that they don't walk in on each other, if anything? The statement of familiarity at the Soluna System was pretty comforting, but, still, that doesn't mean that the customs here aren't drastically different . . .‾▿‾

A sphinx with three other individuals at her table hailed,

"Hoy, Rin!"

Taking Crevasseus by the shoulder that was opposite his weapon, Rin answered,

"Hoy, Joma! Yeah, that sounds like a variant of a kenlev deception squid. They don't usually come too close to Umbral Island, but it's bound to happen once in a while. The meat's not bad, though."

Rin brought Crevasseus to the door, which opened to a restroom with many private stalls. A rev with a green blindfold was apparently the attendant, as he escorted Crevasseus to an appropriate stall for him to do his business.

[Crevasseus]

Crevasseus entered the restroom, then sat and went about his business after fumbling with doors and locks for several moments.

I miss my cave

‾▿‾Tori and Nadia trailed behind Rin lightly, taking note of the sphinx and company. The more that they heard, the more that they were at ease.‾▿‾

Oh, good. How do you prefer to cook it?

[NPA]

"Personally, I like to just fry it up with some lemon pepper, but you can pretty easily treat it like any other seafood. Come! Have a seat with my clan. Joma here does the scribe work and has the first paw in accepting new members. Joma, these are Nadia and Tori. They just got here from the Soluna System, and they, along with Crevasseus, are interested in having an escort to the Atypical Institution."

Rin pointed toward the restroom at Crevasseus' mention to clarify that she was, in fact, referring to the one that entered at the same time. Joma and Rin each pulled out a chair for the n00bs.

"Ah, good! Make yourselves comfortable. The paladin is Obediah, the gladiator is Eliyah, and the drakeward is Mayela. The twin defenders and elementalist at the table to your left are Mineron, Na'gomn, and Bjona. I can tell that you're Level 1-capable, Tori, as is Crevasseus, so you might be safe enough to travel alone for a while, but some insurance is great. Tell me what kind of support you would be interested in."

The others waved at their mention, but did not interrupt.

‾▿‾Tori and Nadia exchanged smiles at the statement of their food. They took their seats with a nod of gratitude.‾▿‾

Thank you. It's nice to meet you all. Well, uh, we tend to depend primarily on my speed. Transportation isn't an issue because I have a mount that is not particularly fast, but still an effective flier that is very, very hard to kill. Weight shouldn't be an issue for it, so heavy armor is no problem. We like to ride around on Glyphus, then I hop off and zip around to do battle when threats come too close.

More like, "I like to jump off and fly all over the place because I can't hold still for five minutes, so I run into monsters and have to fight my way out if they trap me or keep moving."

I can, too! I just choose not to. Anyway, yeah, we mostly get by on my speed being better than everything else's, but I guess that I'm a bit of a glass cannon. I have a problem with electric damage except in one of my forms, in which I resist all the elements. I think that I should be able to handle enemies either with rapid offense or rapid fleeing, so support in the way of making sure that I stay alive, conscious, and able seems right, huh? Specialty in protection and healing?

[NPA]

"Okay, that helps. How are you on the difference between magic and physics? Do you rely on one kind of offense, have more versatility in, or take hits more roughly from one more than the other? What about crowd control, as opposed to solitary threats?"

[Crevasseus]

At this point, Crevasseus emerged from the restroom, his hands still moist from the sink water. He used The Fellsgot to find his way through the tavern toward the sound of Tori's voice.

‾▿‾Nadia stood to go help Crevasseus navigate without whapping anyone upside the head with his stick. Tori answered Joma,‾▿‾

I'm pretty even on physics and magic, I guess. Well, I don't actually have many spells, not a lot of elemental variety, except in one of my forms that I have limited usage of. I can also dish out more physical attacks than magic without running out of energy. I can shoot plenty of magic, though, and I take it a little better than physical hits. At least, that's how it was in the Soluna System; I don't know if switching dimensions has messed with me at all. I don't tend to have a problem with getting overwhelmed by numbers, but that's more due to position control than anything. I mean, I have some tricks for handling groups, but not much. What about you, Crevasseus?

‾▿‾Tori had only seen Crevasseus in battle for a short period, part of which involved him being held captive, so his tactics were still mostly a mystery. Nadia held the seat that she had for Crevasseus.‾▿‾

[NPA]

As Crevasseus made his way toward the group, people had no trouble staying out of his way. A few of them could be seen getting ready to guide him, but stopped when they saw that a familiar hand was approaching him. Joma shook her head at Tori's remark of interdimensional flux.

"People from the Soluna System tend to have little to no change,"

she interjected. She kept quiet for the rest of Tori's answer and then turned her attention to the blind one.

[Crevasseus]

Crevasseus sat and looked in the general direction of his guide.

Thank you, Nadia.

He looked at the group.

What are we discussing, exactly?

[Tori Keheraht]

We're considering hiring some help to get us to the Atypical Institution, since that's apparently the best place to get the hang of this dimension. We're talking about our battle capabilities, like how good we are in offense, defense, preparation, healing, physics, magic, solo combat, group dispersion, and stuff. I mean, assuming that this is the right thing to do, and there aren't any better alternatives for figuring out how to go home and survive until we do.

‾▿‾The answer had bolted out of Tori's mouth immediately. It was quick thinking on Tori's part: If she detailed the discussion with her voice raised just a bit and kept her eyes peeled, she might spot someone who could interject something useful. After all, what guarantee did the party have that this clan wasn't trying to rip them off?‾▿‾

[NPA]

"Yeah! It's a good thing that you happened to land right next to me, 'cause our mercenaries are really fairly priced. You both have three hundred dollars, right?"

Joma waited a moment for the party to check themselves, then added,

"Don't be alarmed. When people come to this dimension, they all have the same amount, though it's usually in their native currency or currencies. From what I hear, they get whatever they lost, if anything, if they go back to their own dimensions."

[Crevasseus]

"Well . . . " he drawled. "I'm an assassin by trade. Therefore, I have some long-range spells. I know a couple healing spells, and some for self-preservation."

He took off his coat and revealed his left arm.

"As for close combat, I have this," he gestured to his arm, and The Fellsgot.

As he said the name of his staff, he nodded toward it. He decided telling them about the dagger in the scabbard under his shirt wasn't the best idea. Secrets of the trade, and all. Crevasseus produced his small sack of coins and nodded.
